Student Ambassador Internship Program 2024-2025

The Delaware Student Success Internship program in the Delaware Higher Education Office (DHEO) is an exciting opportunity for 4-5 current high school juniors and seniors to help change and redesign how Delaware students learn about education and career options after high school. The internship is a yearlong part-time, paid program for students with a strong interest in career and college planning for Delaware’s students.

About the Internship

Interns will support all areas of DHEO’s operations, including policy, communications and administrative work.

Interns will:

  • Assess the current support and resources in place through the DHEO for students learning about careers and education beyond high school

  • Create, design and reshape supports and resources to best meet the needs of Delaware students

  • Share their experiences and perspectives as student experts on the value, usefulness and purpose of student communications including the Delaware Student Success website, social media platforms and written documents

Compensation

$17 Hour

Intern Requirements

  • Current Juniors and Seniors (Graduating Class of 2026 & 2025)
  • Ability to prioritize internship responsibilities in addition to academic, community, and/or job responsibilities

Required Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing the following applications/platforms:
    • Microsoft Applications
    • Virtual meeting platforms

  • Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities

  • Self-motivated, hard-working, and detail orientated

  • Interest in social media marketing, media production or public relations

Roles & Responsibilities

Ambassadors will be expected to work 8-10 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Weekly meetings with other ambassadors

  • Weekly check-ins with Program Manager

  • Working independently on identified projects

  • Attending and actively engaging in collaborative meetings

  • Co-facilitate ‘Student Listening Tours’ to survey and interview Delaware students and gather data to understand Delaware’s current career exploration policies and practices

  • Analyze data to inform policy and programs changes for student learning on career and education options throughout Delaware

  • Research, prepare, and present innovative ideas for student-focused career exploration policies and practices

  • Develop resources and create presentations for external audiences

All interns will:

  • Uphold, promote and model youth development principles
  • Professionally engage with other students, the Delaware Department of Education, and other partners

  • Receive guidance, prepare recommendations, and effectively communicate your voice

  • Actively engage in scheduled meetings with enthusiasm, professionalism, and courtesy

Location

  • Required meetings will be virtual. Ambassadors will need to have internet capabilities.

Internship Dates

Students accepted into this program will work throughout the year, beginning on November 4th, 2024 and ending on June 30, 2025.
